A reliable Italian grape variety that is planted all over the world. The vines give good crops of grapes with a high acidity level. The grapes must not ripen too much because then the results can be very poor with almost cooked wines. The best Barbera’s are found in northern Italy’s Piemonte area. The almost purple wines have a taste and smell full of red fruit, with a good acidity.
