Grape variety with a very thin skin for white wine. The grape used to be a basis for vermouth because of its natural high level of alcohol. The variety is still known for its sparkling wine Clairette de Die. The wines can be fruity, but are very vulnerable to oxidation. The wines can also be on the heavy side with a lack of acidity.
